| GETTING RE-PRINT BUSINESS – THE RE-PRINT/PROMO LABEL
The most important single aspect of your Photobook is the subtle self-adhesive label that you place on the inside back cover:
“TO ORDER MORE COPIES OF THIS PHOTOBOOK, OR WOULD LIKE US TO COVER ANOTHER EVENT , PLEASE CONTACT XYZ STUDIOS ON 0207 XXX XXX OR E-MAIL US AT XXXX@XXXXXXX.COM QUOTING REFERENCE NUMBER ______ “ (mark the ‘save as’ reference number in permanent indelible ink as the job was saved in your PHOTOBOOK SOFTWARE FOLDER) – if you can make this label waterproof by laminating, if improves the longevity of your sales message.
SPREADING THE WORD – THE PHOTOBOOK SECRET OF SUCCESS
The reason Photobooks have proved to be so successful is that by it’s nature, it is a product that sells itself. As an example, imagine a School prom, increasingly popular in the UK: A car hire company gets a booking from a group of eight girls for a stretch limousine to take them to their school prom party. The girls notice a flyer which offers Photographic Prom Books included in the booking confirmation, for which you have paid the car hire company a small commission. You take the photographs, create eight prom books which include the re-order/promo label placed on the back inside cover. Requests for re-prints come from relatives in the eight families who want more copies for relatives, who may be impressed with the quality of your work, and may ask you to cover other family events.
CREATIVITY
The Photobook that you have created becomes a sales tool for your own business to every person who views the Photobook. The re-print/promo label may be printed to include suggestions as to other forms of Photobook that you are able to provide: Family events, portraiture, even corporate or other specializations. The inside back page of your Photobook is your selling page. It gives you the opportunity to make your pitch for more Photobook or other photographic work, because the customer has just seen the evidence of your photographic ability, by the quality of your images they have just admired. Try to strike the right balance between the subtleties of a small re-print/promo label or perhaps a larger sized colour label which shows your capabilities – maybe just a request that they visit your website would suffice.
You may even elect to customize your Photobook covers by gold or silver foil blocking your studio logo and contact details on the back cover. CLICK Here for further information on this service.
PHOTOBOOK SELLING PRICE
We have numerous customers advising us on suggested selling prices. The most appropriate advice is that an average Photobook sells in the range £79.95 to £139.95 with higher prices when you include special Satin or Fine art pages, special monochrome pages, special effects such as fold-out panoramic etc.
Discounts are often offered for multiple photobooks or straight (in-edited) reprints. The rule is: The lower your costs, wastage and time taken, the more flexible you can be on price.
Photobooks are traditionally a high mark-up product, and we would encourage you to price your books according to the price you can achieve, rather than a pre-set price based on cost-plus.
